SJS announces 2023-2024 scholarship recipients
St. James Catholic School (SJS) in Elizabethtown has announced the recipients of two scholarships for the 2023-2024 school year. Alaena Adams is receiving the Amy Alicna Scholarship, while Annabeth Clarkson is receiving the Angela Kirchner Memorial Scholarship. Both Adams and Clarkson are currently sixth grade students at SJS.
The Amy Alicna Scholarship Fund was established by Brian and Lindsey Alicna in 2019 to help provide a Catholic education to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity. Brian and his sister Amy were SJS students when Amy passed away in 1986 as a sixth grader.
The Angela Kirchner Memorial Scholarship was established last year by SJS fifth grade teacher Patty Kirchner and her husband, Paul, to honor the memory of their daughter, Angela.
Both scholarships are made possible through partnerships with the Central Kentucky Community Foundation (CKCF).
“Our scholarship opportunities offer the chance to honor loved ones while helping the next generation of community leaders develop the skills they need to be successful,” said CKCF President/CEO Davette Swiney. “Both of these SJS scholarships are very meaningful, due to the people they honor, along with the opportunities they provide for students.”
For more information on either of the scholarship funds or to inquire about setting up an additional scholarship for SJS, contact Jennifer Moran at 270-765-7011 or jmoran@stjames-etown.org.
“We are proud to once again partner with CKCF to offer these scholarships for students, and we are grateful to Brian and Lindsey Alicna and Patty and Paul Kirchner for their commitment to Catholic education,” said SJS principal Sister Mary Grace. “Congratulations to Alaena and Annabeth for their selection.”
