From the Desk of Sr. Marie Hannah

sister Hello parents, faculty and friends!

We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Easter celebration and spring break. This year has passed by so quickly. We will soon be wrapping up another successful school year and celebrating the graduation of our eighth grade students! Thank you for your support over the past several months and for all you did to stay healthy.

Mark Your Calendar!

National Teacher Appreciation Day is May 4, and we certainly want to recognize the tremendous effort put forth by our teachers and staff this year. They have courageously navigated many twists and turns during the pandemic to ensure that our students receive the best possible in-person instruction.

Also coming soon is Kentucky Gives Day on May 11. We are grateful for the SJS families who so generously support us on this important day. SJS is fortunate to be receiving a matching donation of up to $20,000. Funds raised on Kentucky Gives Day will be used to enhance student support services, which are more important than ever given the disruption of COVID-19 in our children’s lives. SJS is raising money to expand programming in three areas:

  1. Academic Support;
  2. Social/Emotional Support; and
  3. Therapy/Related Services.

 SJS in the News

You may have recently seen SJS students in the news for the Middle School Day of Service Project, an annual tradition that honors student Tai Le who passed away in 2017. Your donations allowed our middle school students to provide 700 gift bags for local firefighters, police officers, hospital staff and emergency workers! It’s wonderful to see SJS families, faculty and staff working together to instill in students the importance of servant leadership.

Enrolling Now

In closing, I wanted to let you know how excited we are that many of our SJS families will be returning next year! It is truly a blessing to spend each day with your children. If there is someone you think may be interested in enrolling their children in our school or preschool, we have a few spots still available. Please refer them to Jennifer Moran (jmoran@stjames-etown.org) for a tour to see firsthand the value of our Catholic education!

Blessings,

Sister Marie Hannah
