Hello parents, faculty and friends!
What a great start to the school year we’ve had! We’re so proud of how well our students, teachers and staff have handled new regulations and procedures as we all work hard to keep everyone safe and healthy. And we’re still going strong, which is amazing in these times! Remember to check our Healthy at SJS page for any updates and changes.
We’ve all had to make allowances this year, but many are finding new and innovative ways to meet challenges. This is mostly apparent with our grandparents. As you know, SJS has a very active and involved Grandparents Club, and we are so grateful for all that they do for our school and our students. Unfortunately, grandparents weren’t able to welcome our students on the first day or attend our annual Grandparents Day celebratory Mass and breakfast. They are still making their presence known, however, through welcome signs on our first day back and a special Ice Cream Treat event at the school. See photos of this event here. We love our grandparents and are so blessed to have them as a part of the SJS family!
It’s almost time for our conferences with parents/students and teachers, which is a wonderful opportunity to partner in the education and formation of these children. It’s a gift that we can work together on this mission!
An exciting new addition to the SJS Outdoor Classroom is three Southdown Babydoll Sheep. Once the sheep are acclimated to a larger number of people, they will be used to enhance the science, math and social-emotional curriculum for students. Other Outdoor Classroom spaces include a Stations of the Cross in the wooded area on our school grounds and garden beds – all with the goal of enhancing and expanding on SJS’ fantastic educational experience! More information will be available on this in the coming weeks.
As we weather new challenges, as always ... hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us. – Romans 5:5.
