Christina, her husband Matt and her have chosen to be a part of the new Mentor Family Program at Saint James Catholic School.
SJS developed the program this year to support our new families and successfully welcome them into our community. Current SJS families matched with new families make themselves available to assist in answering questions on day-to-day happenings throughout the school year.
“This program can make families feel a part of the SJS community faster,” Christina said. “There are always questions that come naturally when you’re in a new school, and we’ve had the same questions ourselves so we know how to help.”
The Pride family is in its second year as part of the SJS community. Three of the four children are students- Naomi in seventh grade, Evangeline in fourth grade and Gabriel in second grade.
“I really appreciate that my kids have taken the time to be a part of the Mentor Family Program, too,” Christina said. “They look out for the daughter at school, and are making her feel welcome on their own, without any instruction.”
Families stay in contact with each other, so any question – no matter how seemingly small – can be answered quickly.
“We’re providing families with a friendly face, and overall making them feel comfortable and at ease,” Christina said. “We’re building a deeper network right from the start.”
