From the Desk of Sister Marie Hannah
Hello parents, faculty and friends!
What a great start we’ve had to the new school year! Students are settling in nicely, and all are working together to build a better community of servants in Christ.
The first day back was filled with celebration! Our very own Grandparents Club provided a balloon arch and bookmarks to make the day memorable, and we have a special video to highlight such an exciting day. If you haven’t seen it, you can watch it here – SJS First Day Video
We are so thankful for the time and support our grandparents give to us. Earlier this month we held our Grandparents Day celebration to show our appreciation. Grandparents attended Mass and were given a special blessing, and then a reception was enjoyed in their honor. Thank you, grandparents!
As you all know, next year we are moving to a tuition-based funding model to sustain our school and parish for years to come. We want to make this transition as smooth as possible, and so will continue to provide information and assistance in the months to come. Last month we held a parent meeting to present the cost of tuition as well as share avenues for support.
SJS will contract with FACTS Management Company to manage our tuition, and all families will be required to register with that program. In addition, tuition assistance and scholarships are available to assist families. As we have said, we do not want any child to be denied a Catholic education based on financial reasons. We are here to help you in any way we can, so please reach out to us if you have any concerns.
At the meeting, parents were given a Tuition Guide that will answer many of your questions. If you were unable to attend the meeting, you can pick up a copy in the school office or find it online here – SJS Tuition Guide
All parents are invited to attend our new program — Coffee with the Principal. This informal discussion, question and answer session will be held in the school cafeteria at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28. We will use this time to provide information on school happenings and to stay connected with our families. We will host a Coffee with the Principal each month, so continue to watch the school calendar. Come with any questions you have regarding SJS. If you have any thoughts or concerns, or if you just want a cup of coffee and some conversation, please join us!
Students are deep into their studies — from art and music to science and social studies. We are so proud of how hard everyone is working to learn and grow and we look forward to continued success and fellowship. We are grateful you have chosen to be a part of our SJS family.
Remember our scripture theme — Revelation 21:5 – Behold, I make all things new. We are rejoicing in the New this year. Sometimes the idea of New comes with apprehension, but it also should come with excitement and appreciation for God’s path. As we work together for the betterment of our students and community, let us also work to ensure a fulfilling school year.
