Lots of good things are happening around St. James these days!  We acquired the care of St. Ambrose parish in Cecilia, as well as retained St. Ignatius in White Mills so we do a lot of “circuit riding” as priests these days.  On May 4th, Archbishop Kurtz will join us to bless the new property (49+ acres) acquired for future building purposes.  Following the blessing we are going to have a celebration meal back  at St. Ambrose, since it is sort of the mid point of all three parishes.  If you are available to join us for the

Text Box: retreat days near the end of April. These will be held at St. Ignatius & St. Clare. Both of these neighboring churches are rich in the Catholic history of Hardin County. This year our Archdiocese of Louisville is celebrating it’s bicentennial, so students have visited the Bardstown “Holy Lands” as part of the study of this historic year.
As you read through this newsletter, you will see that our students have accomplished many things and participated Text Box: We hope you enjoy our annual alumni letter to you. It is our hope to keep you informed of what is going on here at St. James School.
St. James is a regional Catholic school serving Hardin, Larue & Meade counties. We are making a concerted effort to contact neighboring parishes about the opportunity of a Catholic Education that waits them at St. James, supporting families and their children.
Our 7th & 8th grades are preparing for their Text Box: The Tradition of Catholic Education Continues...
Text Box: celebration, give us a call, and we’ll put your name down for dinner.
This new property will enable the diocese and local parishes to plan for a future Catholic High School if that seems needed. I often have the question asked about when are we going to have a Catholic High School again? Memories of good old E’town Catholic live on and every time state tournament rolls around I remember listening to the games with Lanzs and Clarks etc. leading the charge! It may be years before a Catholic High School in this area would be practical, but Text Box: we’ve taken the first step towards it with the purchase of enough property.
St. James School is currently thriving and our students do outstanding when they move on. The E’town, John & Central Hardin basketball teams, both boys & girls, had a large number of St. James kids and we were very proud of their accomplishments this year.
Besides doing well on the field or court, they are doing well in the academic field as well which says we must be doing something right!
